Dr. S. Ali Akbar, Head, Project Management and Business Development (CSIR-CEERI) graduated with distinction degree in Electronics Engineering from Bangalore University in 1985. He received his MSc (Engineering) in Power Electronics and PhD degree for a thesis Titled "Mixed H2/H-infinity control of singularity perturbed systems-Gain Independent Feedback Computation" from National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur. He began his carrier as a scientist in Instrumentation and Electronics Department at CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory, Jamshedpur, and rose to the position of Chief Scientist and Head of Project Management and Business Development Division at CSIR-Central Electronics Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-CEERI), Pilani, Rajasthan. His main contributions are in the area of process Instrumentation and control of Metallurgical/Chemical Process, Process Automation, Real time process Simulation and Embedded RealTime Control Systems. He was instrumental in the development of Real Time Process Simulator (RTPS) technology for online monitoring and prediction of internal dynamics of Iron making Blast Furnace. This technology was successfully implemented in two integrated steel plants Bokaro steel Limited and Bhilai steel plant of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL). For this technology he has been awarded VA Altekar Award for the best technology in the year 2007.
He has successfully executed 16 R&D projects from Ministry of Steel, Department of Electronics (DietY), Department of Ocean Development (DOD) and Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). He has published more than 60 papers in National /International Journals, Conference proceedings and filed 12 numbers of Software copyrights. He is an expert member of various scientific bodies related to Research and Development in the area of process automation and advance electronic control system. He is a member of Board of studies of various Educational Institute and professional societies and supervised B Tech/ M Tech/ Ph D dissertations and trained many project fellows on state-of-the-art electronic control systems.

Received M. Sc. degree in Physics from Agra University, Agra in the year 1995 and Ph. D. degree in Plasma Physics in the year 2002 from Centre of Plasma Physics-Institute for Plasma Research (CPP-IPR), Guwahati (DAE GOI Unit). Worked on ADITYA Tokamak as a Post Doctoral Fellow at Institute for Plasma Research, Gandhinagar during 2002-2004. Later on worked as a Lecturer, Senior Lecturer and Reader at Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra (Ranchi) Jaipur Centre during 2004-2011 in the Department of Applied Physics and led the Department as a Head during 2007-2011. Worked as a group leader in the Plasma Devices Lab during 2011-2017 and now working as a scientist-in-charge of CSIR-CEERI's Incubation-cum-Innovation Hub, Jaipur Centre.
Along with his team, he developed indigenous mercury-free plasma UV lamp technology for water/air disinfection, which has been transferred to three Indian industries. Also, designed, developed and successfully delivered a large volume penning plasma discharge source, which is a tabletop calibration source for VUV spectrometer-detector-system useful for tokamak machines. Recipient of SERC Fast Track Young Scientist Award for the year 2003-2004 and also BOYSCAST fellowship in the year 2005-2006 from DST, Govt. of India. Worked on ASDEX Upgrade Tokamak at Max-Planck Institute for Plasmaphysik, Garching, Germany during 2006-2007. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) invited as a consultant at its headquarter Vienna, Austria in the year 2009.
On his credit he has more than 50 research papers which have been published in different International and National journals, edited two books, written one book and thee book chapters, and also filed four patents besides more than 120 research papers in International and National Conferences. He has successfully supervised five Ph. D. & eight M. Tech. thesis and has guided more than 40 B. Tech. thesises. He has effectively completed five sponsored research projects and two network projects.
At present he is establishing CSIR-CEERI's Incubation-cum-Innovation Hub, Jaipur Centre and has conceptual understanding and deep interest for innovation and entrepreneurship.
Specific skill: Design and development of Plasma Systems and Devices, development of plasma models and collisional-radiative modeling of plasmas. Development UV/VUV radiation sources for different scientific, medical and industrial applications.
Areas of Interest: Low temperature plasma applications, plasma devices, dielectric barrier discharges, atmospheric pressure plasma discharges, penning plasma discharge, VUV/UV light sources for societal and industrial applications, Pseudospark plasma switches, plasma assisted microwave sources, plasma processing, plasma diagnostics, experimental VUV/UV/Visible plasma spectroscopy, quantitative plasma spectroscopy, impurity transports in the plasma fusion devices, plasma sheath and instabilities.

Sachin Devassy received B. Tech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering in 2007 from Govt. Engineering College, Thrissur, Kerala. He received M. Tech in Power Electronics, Electrical Machines and Drives from IIT Delhi in 2010. He is currently working towards his PhD degree in the Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Delhi, New Delhi, India. He has been working in Power Electronics Group at CSIR-CEERI since July 2010. He has been involved in design and development of solar PV integrated inverters, dc-dc converters with application in renewable energy systems. Gyan Singh Meena received his B.Sc from University of Kota, Rajasthan in 2005. He received his M.Sc in Physics from Vinayaka mission University, Tamil Nadu, 2010.
